201 Mulberry Video Series – Episode 3

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

201 Mulberry in NYC was up and running and packed with kids every day. What do you do after you have a great opening night party, an art show, and open mini-ramp sessions for a week? You hold a contest. Billy Rohan MC’d the contest while David Clark, Dave Mims from Autumn Skate Shop, and Quiksilver Skate Team Manager Jamey Beeson judged. The night was broken into two contests. First, the 15 an”d under” contest, followed by the 16 and up crowd. As expected, we found some solid hidden talent in the NYC area. Check out episode 3 of the 201 Mulberry video series on GrindTV.com. Episode 4 airs Thursday 12/17.

201 Mulberry Video Series – Episode 1

Monday, December 7th, 2009

This past August Quiksilver teamed up with Autumn Skate shop in New York and opened a 10 day pop-up retail shop with a mini-ramp at the Open House Gallery in the Soho District of Manhattan. Billy Rohan built the mini-ramp, Dave Mims from Autumn set up a skate shop, and together we hosted an art show, a contest, and just let kids skate and hang out for 10 days. Alex Olson, Kyle Leeper, Reese Forbes, Jake Johnson, and Natas Kaupas all flew out to NY to take part in the event and everyone had a good time. This month, GrindTV.com will be posting a 5 episode video series telling the story of the 201 Mulberry project. Check out Episode 1 to get an idea of how the space looked and the guys invovled.

201 Mulberry Launch Party Photos

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The launch party for 201 Mulberry went off Saturday night without a hitch.  The private gathering was small and intimate, celebrating a unique skate shop in the heart of Manhattan, only open for a limited time.  Guests included close friends and family of the players involved with 201 Mulberry – from Billy Rohan’s friends and affiliates of Run My Game Productions, to the Autumn crew, to the local skaters friendly with Quiksilver team-riders Jake Johnson, Tim O’Connor, Alex Olson, Reese Forbes and David Clark.  Everyone had something different to say, but one common sentiment was that “it is too bad this shop is only open for eight days!”
